The churches are a special place to be married and each year we have many weddings in the parish churches. If you are interested in exploring the possibility of a wedding at one of the parish churches you should first call the Parish Office on 01795 871500 and talk to Julie our Administrator. We will have to establish that you have a qualifying connection with the parish and Julie will be glad to talk this through with you. It is advisable to book your wedding early, especially for a wedding in the summer.
The basic cost for a wedding in one of our churches in 2021 was £555, included in this are service fees, banns, and verger. Excluded are optional extras such as an organist and/or the bells. We can also help you with flowers at Minster Abbey or Holy Trinity Queenborough. Further details can be obtained from the parish office.
Please contact the office initially (01795 871500). Once you have completed a form and paid a deposit a wedding date will be set. Then in January or February of your wedding year there is a meeting for all those getting married that year:- this will give the information needed for wedding planning. After that, there is one more evening meeting during which we look at the marriage, rather than the wedding:- Even if you're currently living together, it's a useful check on how things might change now that you are getting married. We are planning a fun evening for you and your fiancé(e), with all kinds of questions that can help couples to build a strong and lasting marriage.
Finally, the vicar taking your service will meet with you a month or so before the wedding to finalise arrangements. There are a number of good websites that help with planning a wedding in church and we would recommend one from the Church of England that specialises in church wedding services.
