It is wonderful that, especially after the long lockdowns, events have returned to the Abbey. 23rd April 2022 saw an enjoyable nostalgic evening with Medway Big Swing Band, a 17 piece jazz and swing band, providing music from Duke Ellington, Ted Heath, Glen Miller, Count Bassie and more. This was followed up on 28th May 2022 by Dr Jazz and Lyn Falvey, a seven piece jazz band and vocalist. They filled the Abbey with Traditional and Dixieland jazz which resonated around the beautiful ancient acoustic environment.
On 5th June 2022, as part of the parish’s celebrations in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, Minster Abbey with Minster Gatehouse hosted a Bring Your Own Jubilee Picnic in its grounds. Hot drinks and scones with jam and cream were provided and thoroughly enjoyed. Despite the weather forecast predicting a spot of rain, the rain held off enabling our lovely community to enjoy their picnic and celebrations in magnificent surroundings.
