…Oh, wait, we don't have one.
The phrase "More tea, Vicar" is used when the conversation becomes uncomfortable and is used to change the subject.
He finds himself drinking a cup of coffee; I don't drink tea. I find myself thinking about what the path ahead has to offer.
We are looking forward to Lent and a time of fasting and waiting. Waiting is something we are used to. We are a nation that likes to wait in queues, and we always seem to be waiting in traffic.
Here we find ourselves as a parish once again waiting for what is to come. We are waiting again for a vicar, someone to shepherd our island, to move our ministry in an exciting way, to help us make disciples.
There is a wonderful song that says "We are your church. Build your Kingdom here".
We are each called to serve the Lord in our own way. So, let's not wait for the vicar to drink his tea.
Over this Lent period, let's take time to listen and hear the Lord and His plan for us. We can be tempted to just sit and wait for a new member of staff, or we can be encouraged by our Lord to awaken us to something new, or something old,
as long as we are building His kingdom here on Sheppey.
God gave us the ultimate sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. He gave His one and only son. We might not always get it right, but we will try.
I would like to offer my thanks to everyone for the support they offer Sheppey.
